About ABHC
Making our community a better place—one woman at a time.
We provide treatment, internships, basic-life-skill training and permanent employment opportunities.
What We Do
We are creating a purpose-driven recovery ecosystem.
ABHC is a 30-bed facility where women come for treatment and rehabilitation for Substance Use Disorder.
We are a 3.5/3.1 ASAM level of care behavioral health facility. Our 9,966 sq. ft. facility is located on 2.6 acres of land in South Charleston, West Virginia.
Our facility includes a dormitory set in a community-style living environment where women learn and grow as they progress through their treatment. Our program is person-centered allowing individuals to choose their path through recovery (includes MOUD).
It's more than recovery.
It’s about understanding, learning new skills and growing into a thriving participant of community, family, and life.
Effective communication • Stress management • Finance / budgeting • Emotional regulation • Resume building • Teamwork skills • Dependability / humility • Problem solving • Accountability
Clinical Treatment
We provide individual therapy and supportive counseling through a treatment team that includes case management and peer recovery support services to stabilize the participants physical and medical needs, and address their mental health and behavioral issues. They will complete, through an independent study, our basic life skills curriculum (Adult Roles/Responsibilities, Finance, Effective Communication, Health/Wellness/Nutrition, ACEs Reduction).
We provide 24/7 monitored supervision by our treatment team and residential support specialist.
Sustainable Recovery
After the initial weeks of intensive treatment, we provide basic life skills and teach employability skills through an internship, where participants rotate through our social enterprises (Café Appalachia, Café Catering, Café Appalachia Downtown, and Cultiv8).
Overcoming Relapse
We know that 86% of women relapse if they lack a sense of purpose, don’t have the socio-economic capacity to support themselves, or don’t have a safe place to live. Our treatment model addresses these deficits and creates a more sustainable path to recovery.
Full-Time Employment
Upon completion of the internship, participants are placed with a Community Hiring Partner in full-time employment. These are local businesses that understand recovery conducive employment by supporting women in recovery.
